Fury

War movies tend to be the same old hat every time they come out but this time it is different. The movie begins with the crew of the Fury (an American tank) on the remnants of a World War II battle field. The tank and its crew are the only ones to have survived the firefight, though they didn't make it out unscathed, they lost one of their gunners. Upon their return the crew-Don, the leader, (Brad Pitt), Gordo (Michael Peña), Boyd (Shia Lebeouf), and Grady (Jon Bernthal) - are saddled with Norman (Logan Lerman) a recruit with no battle experience whatsoever. The crew is not thrilled at all to have to train Norman and they are even more upset when his lack of battle skills almost gets them killed. They are soon sent out on a new mission to try and take over some German occupied villages. Along the way Norman experiences the true nature of soldiers during war and becomes a vital part of the team. Once they have recovered several villages the Fury is sent out along with back up troops and tanks to help rescue other soldiers and hold the front line. This is an intense battle which led to the loss of the other tanks and many of the other soldiers . Don is determined to try and continue on with their mission despite the loss and gives the order to move out. The crew is almost to the front line when a forgotten mine destroys one of the tanks tire treads, now the men are stuck and directly in the path of an oncoming battalion of SS soldiers. None of them are willing to leave the tank and they prepare for a long and bloody battle. Norman, now fully experienced, has to fight for his life along side of his comrades as they fight for their country with no way to know if any of them will survive the night.
Now I do not usually watch war movies because I feel like most of them are the same and they have no real story and are only excuses for graphic fighting scenes. That being said I thought that fury was an awesome movie! The plot was really well done; there was humor, loyalty, and a tragic romance. There was a great deal of character development between all of guys which was great because most of the time the focus of war movies is on fighting and not the men. I also loved that this was done from the perspective of a tank crew because the guys that run a tank are basically a family and they have to watch out for each other. I would recommend this movie to anybody that loves any movies that are war or history related. I did not have any negative connotations about this movie so go and see it 5 out of 5 stars from me.
