One Week In

Image
Ok so the title is kind of a lie, I haven't been here a whole week. But I am having an awesome time and loving it here. The weekend/first days after move in where pretty chill. I went to several "classes" around campus that were about different resources around campus, like the CAT team which is like an escort program for students that are walking around at night and the Wellness Center which provides 20 free condoms if you are part of the "Love Glove Club" (don't worry I am not about that life). I also got to take part in the Wildcat Cup. This massive assembly type event is comprised of games that your resident halls take place in, you are also supposed to dress up in your hall's "spirit color" (ours was purple). So I got all of my purple gear together (which wasn't much but I tried) and went out (I even played in one of the games which was super fun). Another part of the Wildcat Cup was the lip sync battle between the halls (which I did o...

Farewell Marysville, Hello Ellensburg

Image
Here I go faithful readers off on a new adventure!! This one takes me deep into the heart of Eastern Washington and onto the Central Washington University campus. It's a little scary being in a new place but now that I have my room set up I have a little home away from home. (My desk, haha yes I know it's messy) (My portal to the outside world) (My bedst friend, mwahaha did you get my joke??) (The closet of wonders!!) As this is my farewell post I just want to take a moment to acknowledge all of the people that helped me get here: My parents   My siblings My other family: aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and great grandparents  My friends ~from church ~from school My best friend My teachers (The three in front, I don't know who the rest of them are) Thank you to everyone who has given me moral and financial support. It means a lot that I have people looking out for me. Please keep me in your prayers of you are into that sort of thing and please keep reading about my adv...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

So this movie is loosely based off of the tv show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (and I stress loosely). While there are some elements of the movie that are the same, like the fact that the Shredder runs the Foot clan and that the turtles have to face him to save the city. But that is about where the similarity ends. The movie did not honor the originality of the show or the integrity of the characters. For instance, the backstory of the turtles is that they were raised in a lab and given an injection of a genetic mutogen that turns them into giants, and that they were the "pets" of April O'Neil, played by Megan Fox (which means it wasn't good). Or the fact that April's character was portrayed as a "damsel in distress," this made me pretty upset because in the show she actually learns to fight and helps the turtles. But in this movie she comes off as annoying and a hinderance to the team. Now there were some good points to the movie like the fight scenes, ...

Sunday Funday 9/7/14

Image
Time to kick start Fall ladies and gentlemen, at church anyways. This last Sunday was Superhero Sunday for Grove Kids which meant everyone was dressed up in everything from full costumes to T-shirts (I was trade marking Super Swag). And of course special appearances by Captain America (Timmy Martin), Spider-Man (Pastor Andrew), and Batman (Justin Cram). This week was also the first part of Larger than Life for Remedy Youth Junior High (no details for that 'cause I wasn't allowed at that one. But the Senior High version will be coming soon). While there Josh Harris, Timmy Martin, Allee Telschow (sorry if I misspelled that girl) and me planned to go out to see the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Allee bailed on us cause she had another party with her "cool" friends). But before going to the movies my parents and I ran some errands, they were looking for a new laptop and I was looking for a porcelain 150 marker (still haven't found one) (we also got samples at Cost...

Exciting new face!!!

Image
This was an amazing day for mee! First off it was Labor Day so I didn't have to work which is always awesome! And it was the day that I got to get my hair dyed for the very first time (not counting highlights)! I decided that I wanted my hair to be dark so I went with a very dark auburn color which started out pretty much black and purple but now it is getting to that red-brown color. I love it though it's so different but it looks so good, getting it done made me feel like I was on America's Next Top Model (one of my favorite shows) cause they always get exciting makeovers. Once all of the dye had been set and Miss Sami styled my hair to perfection (like always) I headed out for the next adventure: going deep into the lair of the nerd Jared Ramey (always an adventure cause you will never know what you will find there cause his room is almost always messy). The reason for this perilous trek was so that he could run diagnostics on my computer (a check up for those who are no...

AquaSox Game 2014

Image
TAKE ME HOME FROM THIS BALL GAME, TAKE ME HOME FROM THIS PLAACE. I'LL BUY YOU PEANUTS AND CRACKERJACKS, WHATEVER IT TAKES MOM JUST PLEASE TAKE ME BACK. BY NOW WE ARE ROOT ROOT ROOTING FOR THE OTHER TEAM BECAUSE LET'S FACE IT THEY'VE WON. CAUSE IT'S ONE, TWO, WE LOST AGAIN AT THE OLD BALL GAAAME!!!! You guessed it this post is about the all American sport of baseball, the AquaSox to be precise. As you also can guess from the above song, they lost, which is no surprise to me as everytime we try and go to an AquaSox game they lose. Oh well I still love the sport, it is my favorite to watch! I just wish that I could go to a game where the home team wins...maybe I am bad luck?? Of course we all had a blast anyways; especially me, Micah, and Jacob we all played catch before the game. And during the game Micah and I decided to liven the game up with some of our fabulous commentary and play by play action (which of course annoyed everyone around us). We even got to partake of t...

PCH Grill Character breakfast

If ever you go to Disneyland with little kiddos, or even without them a character breakfast is a must. This way you can meet lots of classic characters without waiting in long lines at the park. For our trip we went to PCH Grill in the Paradise Pier Hotel (not within the park). ~atmosphere **** (This was a very fun character breakfast! When you first come in they escort you past "lifeguard" Mickey so you can get a picture with him. And throughout the breakfast various classic characters come past your table for pictures and autographs; we even got to meet Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Also during your time there you have the chance to have a dance party with Mickey Mouse over by his surf shack (parents, hello photo op). One downside had to be that it was a little messy by where the food was served, the floor was sticky which was a little disconcerting) ~food * (While I am a firm believer that food served buffet style can be good, this was not one of those. The vari...

Inside Disneyland Restaurants

Image
The Hungry Bear Set up in Frontierland, this little food stop is a great place to grab anything from burgers to salads. ~atmosphere ** (Not to talk down on this place but atmosphere wasn't a strong suit on their part. It's set up like a little frontier store but there is no story to this place as far as I can tell)  ~food **** (This is a great place to fuel up. I got a crispy chicken sandwich which was possibly one of the best I have ever had. The chicken was moist and topped with honey mustard (which I liked surprisingly, cause I don't usually take to mustard). The fries that were on the side were also especially good, they were faintly reminiscint of Dick's fries in Seattle) ~service *** (They get a 3 just because we didn't interact at all really with the staff. The lady that took our orders was nice enough though) Total stars for the Hungry Bear = 9 Award Weiners (don't laugh that's what it's called) This aptly named hot...

Voodoo Doughnuts

Image
This is the first place that we stopped to eat at while on our trip, Voodoo Doughnuts. There are three locations to this music/voodoo themed bakery but this rating is for the one located in Portland, Oregon. ~atmosphere  **** (Where ever you look inside this fun filled bakery you will find a tret for your eyes. Music paraphenaila from several different artists and genres covers the walls. And a beautiful chandelier hangs from the ceiling.) ~food  ***** (Whatever your preference for doughnuts this place will have it. Everything from classic fritters to original creations like the cock and balls (that looks like exactly what you think). And even though I am not a huge doughnut person these were very good) ~service ***** (Despite this place being a very popular and very busy breakfast joint the girls at the counter were very nice. Oh and if you ever go, there is one girl who has what looks like a chemical compound tattooed on her forearm. 100 life points will go...

How ratings work

Greetings faithful readers! I am starting a new set of post labeled.... Wait for it...... Ratings!!!! Yeah! Here is how the ratings will work: I will provide the name of the restaurant, a summary of what they serve, I will also award stars for different categories (atmosphere, food, and service) at the end I will count the stars for the end rating. Happy reading!!!

Joe's Crab Shack

Image
The first restaurant that we went to while we were on our trip was Joe's Crab Shack. This is a really fun restaurant for anyone who loves the fruits of the ocean, specifically crab of all kinds. ~atmosphere ***** (decorations are awesome! Stepping into this restaurant is just like stepping into a surf shack. Complete with a great white shark hanging from the sealing and enough fish decals to last a life time. There was even a playground for the kiddies if the wait time is long) ~food **** (we each had something different while there but my father and I shared the Sunset Crab Bucket. This was very yummy but beware if you are not a fan of salty foods their crab buckets are not for you. While delicious and filled with everything from corn to potatoes to crab legs the broth that it is cooked in and the seasonings are very salty) ~service *** (this could have been because we were there at a busy time of the night, but the wait staff was hard to get a hold of all night....
