One Week In
Ok so the title is kind of a lie, I haven't been here a whole week. But I am having an awesome time and loving it here. The weekend/first days after move in where pretty chill. I went to several "classes" around campus that were about different resources around campus, like the CAT team which is like an escort program for students that are walking around at night and the Wellness Center which provides 20 free condoms if you are part of the "Love Glove Club" (don't worry I am not about that life). I also got to take part in the Wildcat Cup. This massive assembly type event is comprised of games that your resident halls take place in, you are also supposed to dress up in your hall's "spirit color" (ours was purple). So I got all of my purple gear together (which wasn't much but I tried) and went out (I even played in one of the games which was super fun). Another part of the Wildcat Cup was the lip sync battle between the halls (which I did of course), Hitchcock (my residence hall) put together a "Music Through the Decades" mashup (featuring my stirring impersonations of Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea). But unfortunately my hall did not win the cup which sucked but it was still fun. What else did I do..... Oh yes, I watched "22 Jump Street" (which was really funny), skyped with Jared, got calls from home, unpacked, went to a street fair, and experienced the worst shopping ever at Fredmeyer. Each year when the students are all coming back the stores of Ellensburg have a bunch of deals on their merchandise. And since I needed a few things from the store I devided to go, I kid you not this was literally Black Friday v2. The line to get into the store was around the building; luckily I managed to get in, get my stuff (one purchase that was wrong I just figured out), grab some free pizza, and get out (while only spending $.30 (thanks Anthony Schmidt for the $20 gift card)). Then the next day was the first day of classes which was really fun (sorta, I didn't want to get up, Jared had to convince me) I found all of the classrooms easily and despite not having any of my books got along just fine. Since being here I have managed to make a few friends (there you go Dad I am being social); most of these new friends are part of my youth group Xa (Chi Alpha) they are all really nice people and I love hanging out with them. I went to coffee with Corrinne, one of the leaders, a bbq at the Xa house, a movie night at Corrinne's apartment, and another bbq at the house of one of the church families (they had cows and it made me happy). All in all a great first almost week, I will try and post as much as I can when I get the chance but don't get mad if it takes a while.
