Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

So this movie is loosely based off of the tv show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (and I stress loosely). While there are some elements of the movie that are the same, like the fact that the Shredder runs the Foot clan and that the turtles have to face him to save the city. But that is about where the similarity ends. The movie did not honor the originality of the show or the integrity of the characters. For instance, the backstory of the turtles is that they were raised in a lab and given an injection of a genetic mutogen that turns them into giants, and that they were the "pets" of April O'Neil, played by Megan Fox (which means it wasn't good). Or the fact that April's character was portrayed as a "damsel in distress," this made me pretty upset because in the show she actually learns to fight and helps the turtles. But in this movie she comes off as annoying and a hinderance to the team. Now there were some good points to the movie like the fight scenes, the extra add ons to the turtles costumes, and that the writers tried to make some genuinely sentimental and touching scenes between the turtles (I said tried but mostly they came off as cheesy).
All together this movie receives 3 stars from me.
