Winter Break 2014-2015

Really late with this post but I did a lot of fun stuff over winter break and I wanted to make sure I talked about it. (And forgive me if I miss stuff haha).

Well the first few days of winter break I did not do much, mostly played Micah's Xbox and worked on Jared's Christmas present (which he loved by the way). I would have gone to Arts and Tech's school play but the darn power kicked off and they had to cancel. But oh well I finished buying Christmas presents that weekend. That first Sunday though was a lot of fun, I went to church and then to Darla's (a friend from church) bridal shower which was tons of fun with lots of fun games, then it was off to Miss Andria's house for our life group alumni party also full of fun times. Then finally Tuesday I got to go back to my old stomping grounds of A&T with my trusty sidekick Jared Ramey for their fall play, which they did a great job at for their first play without me haha. Once the play was over we decided to hit up the DQ for late night Frosty's and fries (yummy yummy) and then my dad, my best friend (Jessica Armstrong), and I went to our traditional late night showing of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (not at midnight 'cause I guess that wasn't a thing)(P.S. my review of it is posted). Wednesday also came with some fun times. It was the night of Remedy Youth's Christmas party which meant a high intensity game of Bunco that went on for like two hours. I even won a prize!!! It was a cute little windup panda pencil sharpener! Honestly there was a lot that went down this week haha, on Thursday Jared and I (yes him again) went back again to A&T to spend the day helping out the teachers that needed us. Which meant that I helped yearbook get back into shape and Jared talked some sense into game design. It was a great day but that was not the last time that I spent time with my clever boy, but FIRST! The bestest concert in the history of children's concerts! My wee babee brother got to sing FOUR whole times in front of our church in the Grove Kids concert. He was so cute!!! Though apparently there was an incident with him taking off his vest in front of everyone. The very next day I went over to Jared's house for my very first Christmas movie marathon (seriously, I have never done one of those before), I even got a present from Jared's mom (she has presented me with a gift! I have been accepted as one of their own!). It was actually a really cute necklace (Thanks Mama Ramey, I love it!). After the last movie wrapped up I headed home for the night, because it was time to start the crazy preparations for Christmas which included mom and I making some yummy Christmas cookies. Then finally the celebrated night arrived!! Christmas Eve!! My family kept with tradition and went to my mom's parents' house for dinner and a couple of presents (including a new set of Christmas jammies). Christmas day was even more fun! We had a yummy breakfast of eggs benedict made by my grandfather and cinnamon rolls made by my dad and I. Then the chaos of present opening ensued (my favorites were my NES (which I am still at war with) and a new DVD player with a bunch of DVDs (including all 3 Austin Powers movies)), when the paper settled we went to my dad's parents' house for more presents and food. The night completed we headed home very happy and very full (and ready for a good night's sleep). But just because Christmas was over doesn't mean that the fun was over, the big day for Jordan and Darla was the day after Christmas (congrats to both of them, you guys are amazing). As soon as the two lovebirds said "I do" we had a grand party complete with yummy food and awesome dancing, then I headed over to my boy Kyle Brown's house for a fun night of UNO and a game called The Farming Game (which is basically like a satanic version of Monopoly). The weekend passed uneventfully until Sunday when I got to go back over to Jared's house to watch Doctor Who (with the 9th Doctor Christopher Eccleston) and I helped him get his new computer set up (cause we are nerds. And he has decided we are going to build a computer together at some point). I made sure to hang with my church friends too, my dear friend Janelle Shepard was throwing an amazing birthday party which included ice skating and a trip to the movies to see Into the Woods (another movie that will be on my rating board soon). But party time couldn't last forever, I had my own party to plan!! That is right faithful readers, Sarah Hoot is planning her very own (with Jared Ramey's help) New Year's Eve party (the parents gave me free rule of the house). The party went off without a hitch; the food was good (I made lettuce wraps, everyone brought apps, and we had chocolate fondue and Martinellis for dessert). We even played an intense game of Cards Against Humanity, made an attempt at 2014 trivia, and watched the worst movie of 2014 (Left Behind) and the Lego Movie. It was an amazing party and I even got a real midnight kiss from Jared! 2014 was a roller coaster ride of a year filled with good and bad moments and I hope that 2015 is way better, my resolution is to keep my grades up and spend more time with friends. The rest of my break was uneventful for the most part, I went to an ASB/Leadership Reunion and got to see some of my old school mates but mostly I just packed up all of my stuff for going back to school. I tried to go back on Sunday like I wanted to but the darn pass kept opening and closing and reopening and reclosing, so I spent the night with my grandparents and went back on Monday. All in all it was an amazing and well needed break, now it's back into the craziness of college life!
