Catching Up pt.1
Hello everyone! It has been a while since I let everyone know what was happening in my life over here in sunny, but windy, Ellensburg. So I thought I would write a nice long post about stuff that's going on. Let's see what to start with.....
April 24-26:
This weekend I went with my Chi Alpha (my campus church) friends to Daroga State Park for their annual Spring Camp Out. It was a super fun trip, and it was my first time going so that made it even more fun! We left Friday afternoon and got to the park around 5:30 p.m., once we all got to the park we set up our tents in our separate areas (the girls on one side of camp, the boys on the other). My friend Sierra and I decided that we wanted to have a race between us and my other friend Sarah and Jessica to see who could get their tent up first. We won of course but the tent we had was super weird so it took us longer than usual. After getting settled in we headed over to the fire pit to listen to the wise words of Jason Swingle. When the message and worship wrapped up everyone was sent to grab hot dogs to cook over the fire and s'mores for dessert. Then we all headed to our tents to get ready for bed and try and stay warm (it was freezing cold over there).
Saturday dawned bright and still very cold. I got all bundled up and headed over to grab breakfast and chat with my friends. When breakfast was over we headed over to the fire and listened to Corinne's message, then we broke up into our talk groups to discuss the message and get to know each other. That was pretty cool because I got to be in a group with people that I didn't really know so I got to make new friends. After finishing our discussion we split up for God time, which is where you answer questions and listen for God to speak into your life. Once the time was finished lunch was set up and then we had free time; I got to watch and keep score of the kickball game, I did that until the score got too high to keep track of, by that time I wasn't feeling super great so I decided to take a nap to try sleep it off. When I woke up I was feeling much better so I decided to hang out with my friends around the fire and knit my new scarf. After a little bit more free time we headed over to the river to watch some of our fellow Chi Alphans get baptized and give their lives over to Christ. Which was so awesome to watch (especially since the water was freezing cold ;)). Then we had even more free time which meant more hanging out with friends around the fire until it was time for dinner and talk groups. The day wrapped up with another message provided by the one and only Jason Swingle, gooey marshmallow goodness (aka s'mores), and then bedtime (another chilly night).
Last day of camp came and it was time for us to prepare to head home. I woke up, had a little breakfast with my friends and listened to another message from Corinne and have another discussion with my talk group. As soon as we were done I did another God time sheet, and then hung out and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery. Then we all met together to go over the low-down on packing up and moving out, once Michael "the voice of kickball" Mowery dismissed us we started tearing down camp. I got my stuff all packed, tore down the tent, and helped Jordan put all of the stuff into her truck. When everything was done we all headed out. Jordan and Sierra wanted to swing by Red Robin because they couldn't eat any of our camp food (due to allergies) (R.R. has a completely gluten free option for those who are gluten free), so we grabbed dinner there and then we went to a craft store to look around and grab stuff for a craft of Jordan's. Then we finally headed home, and when I got home I got to work on my homework (yeah school!). After a while I finally went to bed which was nice because I was finally able to get warm.
All in all it was a great weekend and I had a blast. Even though I may or may not have worn the same clothes all weekend. Thanks for reading everyone stay tuned for part two which will have even more exciting ordinary adventures!
