Feelings about Fall
Guys I am so sorry, I am a horrible person for abandoning you for so long. I have been super busy and posting has not been an option. But now I am here and I am going to give you a fun light hearted post about my feelings on some of the memorable moments during my favorite season, Fall.
First things first, Pumpkin Spice. Now I am all for pumpkin things, I mean it's a staple of fall. We pick them, carve them, put lights in them, and use their seeds and meat (the part we eat....) for eating. But why is it that every fall season pumpkin spice throws up everywhere; there is pumpkin spice drinks, pumpkin spice snacks, pumpkin spice candles, pumpkin spice soap, and so much more. It is getting ridiculous! There are so many other smells for fall, for instance, apples and cinnamon. Like my favorite drink, apple cider. Nothing screams fall to me like fresh apples and cinnamon blended together to make a magical combination. Now I know some people do not like this and that's fine, to each their own and all that, but come on can we at least tone down the ridiculous amount of pumpkin spice? Good thing Christmas is coming and all of that will go away.
Let's see what else can we talk about......??? Oh I know, female Halloween costumes! This has been an issue for I am pretty sure forever. And it has taken over most of your generic party store costumes, everything from bumblebees to fairy tale characters and even into the professional sector of nurses and swat team officers. But they all have the same things in common very short skirts or shorts, or very tight pants, and shirts that leave little to the imagination. Top all of that off with some killer heels and you are ready to go out and trick or treat, just pray it's not too cold or it is going to be a bit nipply. Now there are lots of people who will disagree with me saying that these types of costumes are demeaning and objectifying for the women who wear them, but I do not agree. Personally, I think that Halloween is a time for women to act like "sluts" if they want to, I mean come on it's a costume, worn once a year. It's not like they are walking around all year wearing these outfits (unless they are prostitutes and that is a whole other bag of beans). Of course there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, little girls; under no circumstances should young girls be forced to wear mini skirts and low tops just because they want to be a rockstar or a princess. And if you are a person like me who doesn't like all of that nonsense (well I like it sometimes, gotta flaunt what my mama gave me), then you can delve into the world of cosplaying and make your own costume (like I have done for awhile). On that note go forth, and remember, please don't shame the "sluts" on Halloween they are out looking for treats just like you.
OK final topic and then homework time...... Premature Christmas celebrating! This is just a crime... And it is getting worse every year. Halloween has hardly concluded and all of a sudden like something out of a nightmare, BOOM! SANTAS, SNOWMEN, REINDEER, TREES, and all manner of horrifying Christmas decorations litter all of the stores where just a few hours earlier there were pumpkins and candy and costumes. Now this is not to say I don't like Christmas, I love Christmas, Jesus sent to save the world, seeing family, not to mention lots of food. But there is an equally important holiday that seems to be ignored, Thanksgiving. This is a time where family members gather together and eat copious amounts of food and be thankful for what they have. So in the spirit of celebrating my favorite holiday, BACK OFF SANTA!! YOUR TIME IS COMING!!
