Ramey Road Trip Day 5: South Dakota, it's like North Dakota but South
Headed out for a new state today! We are finally out of Montana!! The agenda for today included traveling through the Badlands which was super cool.
We woke up this morning and took our time leaving since the family wanted to do some of the stuff around the KOA before leaving. So Jared and I stayed and set up Thor so that we could be ready to go when they got back.
Finally, the day was
done and I went to bed very tired and ready to sleep. So goodnight everyone
talk to you tomorrow!
We woke up this morning and took our time leaving since the family wanted to do some of the stuff around the KOA before leaving. So Jared and I stayed and set up Thor so that we could be ready to go when they got back.
Once everyone got back we all loaded up and set out.
Unfortunately, the majority of our trip this day was pretty ordinary. The
scenery was pretty but the drive itself was boring, up until we got to our
first stop, Wall Drug. Originally this was a small pit stop for people who were
on long drives and the owners would give out free ice water and 5 cent coffee
to the drivers that would come by the store. Today however, along with the ice
water and coffee there are now several gift shops, a book store, a candy store,
a clothing store, and many more random stores. They even have an arcade and a
spray park in the “backyard” of the store with lots of places to take pictures.
It was a really cool place and definitely a place worth looking going to if you
are ever in South Dakota.
Next up on our trip was the Badlands of South Dakota.
This is also a really neat drive to go on. The Badlands are a national park so
you pay like $5 and you can go on the loop around. In about the middle of the
loop is a visitor center and gift shop where you can learn the history about
the Badlands, both prehistoric and present day, buy some souvenirs, and get
your national park passport stamped.
For anyone who does a lot of traveling or is wanting
to do a lot of traveling I recommend getting one of the national park
passports. The passport contains a list of all national parks, monuments, and
memorials from all over the country and some of the territories. So when you go
to one of them you get your passport stamped with the official stamp and the
date you went so you can cross it off your list. They are neat and a great way
to see where you have been and where you want to go next.
Anyways, after the Badlands the ride was pretty
boring. We had a really long drive so we only stopped at rest stops on the way
to our next KOA. According to Mama Ramey the Google maps thing lied to us about
how long the drive was supposed to be, we didn’t get to the KOA until it was
dark and my day wasn’t even over.
So over the summer I was in an online copy editing
class for my job in the fall as a newspaper editor. This week was the last week
of class so I needed to take my final. Unfortunately, my computer decided that
it did not want to connect to the Wi-Fi at the KOA we were staying at. Luckily
Jared’s computer could connect so I used his instead and got my test done.
