Ramey Road Trip Day 14: Let's Go To The Beach
So excited for today! We are going swimming in the Gulf of
Mexico!! We left our camp site in Georgia after our delicious breakfast of
cereal.
We drove for a bit making our usual stops at rest areas,
until we got to Alabama where we stopped again so we could get dirt for our
collection (which has been going good we have only missed a couple states I
think). However, I was horribly tricked while getting this dirt; I walked up to
this seemingly insignificant mole hill (since I am from the North and we have
mole hills up there I thought they would have mole hills down here), wrong, it
was an ant hill. I dug down a little and they all came out. So I found
somewhere else to get dirt.
After that we kept driving until we reached Florida. Then
after making a quick stop at a Walmart to get stuff for dinner and other
resources we left for our new campground.
This campground was great! It was out on this little barrier
island in Pensacola and it was only a short walk to the beach, seriously like
not even 5 minutes and there was a board walk too. There was also this old military
fort where you could go and take pictures too, there were lots of really cool
old cannons. I will definitely go back there I think.
Once we got there and set up a little Jared, CC, and I
grabbed our swimsuits and headed for the beach. It was so beautiful; there was
white sand, lots of shells, turquoise waters, and of course lots of sun! The
water was nice and warm, the only downside was I got spooked by a jellyfish
(they had those and apparently stingrays and sharks) and I got out.
Eventually Mama Ramey, Mr. Ramey, and Austin came down to
the beach too. So we all played in the water for a bit before they headed back
to the RV. I got out for a bit because I wanted to play in the sand, since I
didn’t have any sand castle tools I made a turtle and the Loch Ness monster.
The of course I had to try and remove all of the sand from my swimsuit (always
a pleasure) so I went in the water with Jared for a bit before we went back to
the RV.
Once back to the RV we went to go take a shower. Downside of
this campground was that they only had four showers which meant that the wait
was really long. After our shower we had dinner, tonight’s meal was cilantro
chicken, rice, squash, and green beans.
After dinner Jared and I decided to take a walk on the beach
since it was night time and we could do that. It was really cool; I just wish
it hadn’t been cloudy or we could have seen the stars, but it was fun we got to
see lightning in the distance and we saw a bunch of ghost crabs which were
really funny and cute.
When we got back everyone was just hanging out before bed.
After a bit everyone went to sleep, Jared and I were still up and about to go
to sleep when the storm passed over the top of us and freaked me out. Needless
to say, I did not go to sleep until pretty late.
