Ramey Road Trip Day 22: Just a Little Pot
We are leaving the desert soon I hope!! Today we are heading to Arches National Park and attempting to get to the Great Salt Lake.
We set out some what early today, Mama Ramey made actual breakfast for us! Then after enjoying our scrumptious breakfast of eggs we headed out. These last few posts might be a bit boring since we are mainly just driving now on the way to get home. But today was a good day, we drove for a while looking at gift shops for last minute souvenirs and came across this really strange tourist attraction in Utah.
On our way to Arches National Park we saw this place on the side of the freeway called Hole in the Rock (and by we I mean the driver and co-pilot since Jared and I were napping in the back). Anyways, this store was literally in a hole in a rock wall, there was a little store front but the rest of it went into the wall. There was also a trading post, some sculptures in a cactus garden, and a zoo of all things. We looked around for a bit and then we were back on our way.
We eventually got to the park and after we paid the fee to get in the first stop was the visitor's center so that Mama Ramey and I could stamp our passports and everyone else could get souvenirs if they wanted them. Then we loaded back up and started the drive up to the lookout spot for one of the more popular arches. For anyone who is curious, yes you can get closer to some of the arches by going on hikes; however, since we were all out of shape and it was hot we decided not to do that. So we drove out to the viewpoint instead, where you can still get pictures you just won't be right underneath the arch. Jared and I went all the way to the top of the trail to go and see it but Mama Ramey and CC stayed at the bottom at the little patio area. But the drive up there and back was beautiful and it more than made up for the tiring hike up to the lookout.
Once we left the park we kept driving until we found a place for the night. Mama Ramey didn't make reservations since she didn't know where we would be tonight. We tried to get up to Great Salt Lake today but didn't quite make it, though we are in Salt Lake City. So we got into the KOA in Salt Lake City and once we got settled in we proceeded with the usual routine. Some of us went to the store to grab any supplies we may need or souvenirs and others set up camp. Then Jared, CC, and I as usual, grabbed our swimsuits and headed to the pool to go swimming. It was a really nice pool not super big but big enough to have room to swim.
After swimming we came back so that we could get changed and ready for dinner, but before anyone could eat Jared and I had to go on another adventure. This time we were heading to a 7-11 so we could try and find butter for the mashed potatoes we were having. So off we went, playing Pokemon as we went. Our mission was a success, though we did have a really weird interaction with a guy in 7-11 who said he would get us two ice creams for $5...... After declining his offer and buying our butter we went back to camp so we could eat. Then dinner commenced followed by a family game night, Jared and I played Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock and everyone else played Tenzies. After a bit they all went inside so Jared and I played two games of Magic, I lost both, until we decided to also go inside.
Now we are just chillin' and getting ready for bed so I will talk to you tomorrow everyone!!!
